Mad Science Journal¶
Found in the Mad Science Cave, alongside the Mad Science Notes, with several pages torn out:
After finding an interesting interaction with the dead with the demon summoners of Granit’s Holdfast I’ve found that if a soul can be … persuaded … you can bind them with others and this can illicit some very interesting results. It’s a tricky one though, the souls of the dammed can be determined and quite maddened. I’ve heard tell of another plane, one of shadow, where the inhabitants might be more malleable to my requirements.
I’ve enlisted the help of a select few others to expand my research, they too have a distain for the impermanence and impotence of the mortal condition and I think can aid me in gathering more materials.
Reportedly the Plane of Shadow is weakest within the Forgotten Forest, an outlying and forgotten area of the past. With this distraction of giants it should be of little effort to relocate.
A nearby mine has been located that could prove beneficial. The profits of this should be able to fund further research and hire mercenaries
Whilst the realm of shadow does lie within this forest it is weaker than I had hoped, I’m looking to strengthen it’s connection.
A successful group of mercenaries (group 5) have found a what I hope can be used as a Plane Anchor.
I have found an interesting group of Yuan-ti in a neighbouring forest - this is a race that have fused both human and serpintine qualities which I find most fascinating. I wonder if I can use their knowledge to my advantage.
The “demon summoners” are likely the Arcane Brotherhood.
“A select few others” is probably Jamie Lanhurst and Gunthorp Shadowell.
“A nearby mine has been located” is almost certainaly the Llorkh Mines.
“Group of Yuan-ti in a neighbouring forest” - could these be related to the ones we saw in Iymrith’s Lair?
