Mad Science Notes¶
Found in the Mad Science Cave, alongside the Mad Science Journal:
These notes seem detailed and meticulous in their approach and seem to be written by two people. The older test subject files are in the same hand as the journal but the newer ones are in a different hand.
Binding two souls in to one host seems most troublesome. The pain appears to be great and the fusing often results in a subject that is mostly unintelligible afterwards.
I had thought at Granit’s Holdfast that it was the soul itself that was being called forth that was mad and unintelligible, perhaps it is the process? If that’s the case it is most disheartening.
Short success has been made in bringing forth a soul, with some capabilities I might add, in to the corpse of a being. However they seemed bereft and lost. They moaned and cried without end before eventually the subject grew violent and needed to be ceased. Note: perhaps useful for applications that are either short in nature or where casualties are of no consequence.
Inserting small parts of the Anchor under the very flesh of live subjects has had some success. They are able to access limited abilities from the plane of shadow and appear mostly coherent. Note: over the course of several days the test subjects have deteriorated, first with lowered mood before becoming quite inconsolable and ultimately deemed of no further use. Perhaps useful for shorter periods of use?
The Stone Giants corpse has been relocated and waits further testing, it will be interesting to see if the size of the host enables a greater channeling of the Shadowfells powers.
“Stone Giants corpse has been relocated” is likely the one we found signs of on Day 9 of the journey from Loudwater To Parnast.
