Journal

Day 2

Find signs of a recently used camp fire in a copice of trees. We follow some tracks which are intercepted by paw prints. Following those we find a set of paw tracks which lead us to the remains of a body.

Head back to the main trail and continue following it until a fork in the road. Take the path which elevates us. Stop for the night in an alcove of rock but we get woken by the sound of wolves. While attempting to confront them Searos triggers an avalanche killing them all and giving us a peaceful night in our now buried nook.

Day 3

We dig ourselves out of the nook and Malcon spots an abandoned tower in the distance over a ravine. When we arrive at the ravine we find the avalanche has smashed the bridge. Mike transforms into a giant spider and ferries us across. We continue on towards the tower until Mike spots some carrion birds in the distance. Upon investigation we find the upper half of a Giant corpse and two wolves.

The wolves die.

After the battle Searos is peeing in the snow when he feels the ground tremor so we all regroup by the Giant corpse. A giant worm creature swallows Gramdoul whole and dives back underground. The Party give chase harrowing it from behind causing it to dig directly down. After some time it, and the Party, freefall into a cave where armies of Drow(?), Dwarves, Gnolls, and Goblins are fighting.

We attempt to murderise everyone but quickly realise we’re being overwhelmed and jump to safety.

Finding ourselves in Dwarven tunnels we follow them further down. When trying to take a rest the sounds of pursuit make their way to us and we continue on, taking a fork deeper into the earth.

At the bottom of the corridor we find three doors with signs:

  • Left (broken): Overseer

  • Middle: Forge

  • Right: Canteen

Gramdoul enters the Canteen setting off a rudimentary alarm of pots and pans suspended above the door. We barricade the door and try to rest.

During the night we hear Goblins trying to get past our barricade on multiple occaisions and a large insectoid creature attacks us (an Umber Hulk). We just about kill it. Mike takes:

  • Claws

  • Mandibles

  • Small black eyes (require a CHA saving throw to not attack the nearest person)

Day 4

In the morning we can still hear Goblins outside the door so Mike uses Tidal Wave to clear them out. Inspecting the bodies Gramdoul notices insignia of the Many Arrows clan and destroys their heads.

We head down the Forge tunnel to find it completely shut down. Gramdoul calls out into the darkness and we meet Calinn Gran-Granitson who announces these are his mines and invites us to follow him to chat.
